International sporting events like the Tour de France and the World Ski Championships often stage an event here. Music festivals are often hosted during the summer and winter 2010 welcomes a stage of the World Snow Polo Masters Series! The villages of Tignes are a little further down the valley towards Bourg St Maurice. Just like Val d'Isere, the ski area boasts wide, cruisey red runs, snow-parks for those who want to play and show off their tricks and quieter beginner areas where you can find your "skis" and build confidence - and of course immense off-piste itineraries, so much space you are bound to find untracked snow!The lively resort centre is a real haven for those looking for energetic après-ski and night-life - there are lots of bars, cafés, restaurants and night-clubs to entertain until the early hours. During the day-time there is an equal abundance of activity - the resort is just as regarded as a summer resort as it is a winter snow sports centre. You will find a superb 18-hole golf course, organised activities on the lake, skiing on the glacier, beach volleyball and football and the usual mountain biking, walking and horse-riding.
